It is possible to defrost the Exceldor seasoned turkey before cooking it.
To ensure a safe defrosting:
Leave the turkey in its packaging.
Place it in the refrigerator on a tray, breast side up.
Allow at least one day per 4.4 lb (2 kg) for complete defrosting.
Follow the steps listed under Cooking method for defrosted turkey below.
You can stuff the ‘Cook from Frozen’ Exceldor turkey like any other turkey once it is defrosted.
Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
Remove the turkey from the bag and drain it. If you wish to stuff the turkey, you must do it at this stage.
Place the turkey in the roasting pan. The plastic leg tie is specially designed for oven cooking.
Insert the cooking thermometer deeply between thigh and breast, in the meatiest part of the thigh. It must not touch the bone.
With the lid on, put the roasting pan in the oven.
Cook until the thermometer reaches 180°F (82°C). For approximate cooking times, refer to the opposite table. Remove the lid for the last 30 minutes if you wish to brown skin.
Let the turkey sit for 15 minutes before carving.
